For floors finished with wax or penetrating stains very gently rub the water stain on the wood with 000 steel wool and wax. Scrub the bleach into the stain with a toothbrush.

To remove dark water stains from hardwood floors clean and dry the area first then sand it thoroughly until you get rid of the dark spots. Then scrub it into the stain using a circular motion. Iron the stains out. Wipe in the direction of the wood grain until the stain is gone.

Let the floor dry then stain wax and buff by hand. Bleach the part using hydrogen peroxide and then stain the floor with a color that matches that of your floor.
